Charlie and Phil are fired from the company they work in, and Charlie stumbles to find a new job, in order to enroll his son in the elite Chapman Academy. He spends time with his son, Ben, during the day while his wife is at work. This inspires him to open a daycare center with Phil, where they practice 'nontraditional' methods of child care.
