Telepathic waitress Sookie Stackhouse falls in love with a 173-year-old vampire.

Sookie can hear everybody's thoughts all the time, which makes meeting new people hard. Bill Compton, a 173-year-old vampire enters her bar and she can't hear his thoughts. That's when she knows she found the perfect guy.

Mack and Denise Rattray try to take revenge against Sookie; however, Bill intervenes and helps her.

Sookie feels disillusioned with Bill after she visits him. Dawn and Jason spend the night together, but she throws him out following a spat.

With a second murder in one week, Jason is once again the prime suspect, but Tara helps him with an alibi.

After they meet with the racist police officer, Sookie tells Bill she's not going to be seeing him anymore.

Sookie's grandmother is the latest victim of the mysterious serial killer.

Sookie is certain she has found the man of her dreams after she spends the night with Bill.

Sookie is comforted as she learns that Bill was not in the fire that killed four people including three of Bill's friends.

Sookie manages to identify Longshadow, the vampire bartender who stole from Fangtasia, and Bill intervenes to protect her.

Sookie finds Sam naked in her room, so he explains himself to her and reveals that he's a shapeshifter.

Jason and Amy must clean the mess after Eddie's death, and Jason isn't sure he can handle it.

Jason goes to prison for the murder of Amy but tries to prove his innocence.
