A train carriage explodes in a terrorist attack, where four people survive, including romance writer Mrs. Delahunty, a retired British General, a German and Amy, who lost her parents in the attack. They all go to Delahunty's house to recover. Amy's uncle comes to get her to live with him, but doesn't give her enough attention, which gets Delahunty involved in their lives.
