Wahida takes care of her siblings after the death of her mother and is looking forward to concluding her marriage to her neighbor Mahmoud. Ibrahim seeks to get his sister Zenouba to lure Abu Wahida (Wahida’s father) into marrying her to seize his money.
Wahida is upset by her younger sister Mervat's harsh treatment of Mahmoud, and a major fire breaks out in Abu Wahida's factory.
Abu Wahida loses all his wealth, and things become bad, so Wahida decides not to go through with her marriage to Mahmoud.
Mahmoud is saddened when Wahida breaks off their engagement. She decides to work to help her father. Maher quarrels with his sister Mervat, and his father kicks him out of the house.
Maher steals from Uncle Salim and works in Sanusi's workshop. Mahmoud marries Nora, Wahida’s friend.
Maher falls in love with his neighbor, Batta. Because of Nora's harsh treatment of the mother of Mahmoud, the latter remains haunted by the memory of his love for Wahida. Mervat leaves school and works in a hotel, and Abu Wahida dies.
Nora insists on moving to a new house. Ibrahim asks Salim to mediate in buying Abu Wahida's shop, and Sami proposes to his colleague Mervat.
Maher tells Salim about his love for Batta and his desire to marry her. Sanusi proposes to Wahida, and Sami and Mervat tie the knot.
Maher quarrels with Wahida because she refuses to marry Sanusi. Mahmoud is forced to move to another house to please his wife, Nora. Batta tries to reconcile Maher and Wahida.
Majed decides to travel abroad, Wahida works as a seamstress, and Batta and Maher's engagement party is held.
Wahida is saddened by Majed's decision to travel. Maher and Batta get married, and Mahmoud discovers that Nora lied about her pregnancy.
Mervat gives birth to her first child. Mustafa graduates from college and becomes a lawyer, and years pass, and Wahida lives alone in the house.
