When Joey's career hits rock bottom, he decides to move to Los Angeles in hopes of turning his luck around. Joey's nephew, Michael, wants to move in with his uncle, but he's scared to tell his mother, Gina.

Joey decides to give Michael a few tips on how to impress the ladies, while Gina tags along with them. The landlady Alex is becoming unpopular by everyone when she complains about Joey's behaviours.

When Joey throws a party in order to meet new people, Michael asks Alex to pretend to be his girlfriend in order brag in front of his college rival.

When Joey joins Michael in his book club to flirt with the ladies, Michael ends up having a crush on a girl who is interested in Joey. Gina wants to expand her hairdressing business.

Joey finds himself in a dilemma, when he becomes the understudy in three different plays whose lead actors all call in sick. Joey, Michael and Alex don't want Gina to find out that a vacant apartment became available in the complex.

Joey is upset when Gina moves into his place to take care of Michael when he gets sick. When Joey keeps running into the same actor, Brian, in all his auditions, it turns out that Brian has a secret motive.

When Alex's husband, Eric, comes for a visit, Alex thinks that he might get jealous when he sees Joey, only to find out that Eric is totally fine with it. Joey offers to give Gina money to have her own salon.

When Joey finds out that his old crush, Donna, is coming for a visit, Gina asks him not to get involved with her. Joey finds out that he used to be good at baseball when he was a kid.

Joey decides to plan a romantic week with Donna in order to persuade her to be with him and leave her husband. Alex finds out that being a "hot girl" has its perks.

When Joey goes to a party with Alex at her university, a movie producer thinks that he attended college there. Joey decides to play along in hopes of getting a part in a new show.

When Joey is offered to be a judge at a beauty pageant in Las Vegas, he finds himself in a predicament when he hooks up with a girl who turns out to be one of the contestants. Michael uses his mathematical skills to win at blackjack.

Joey is worried that he might be taken off the show, Deep Powder, he's starring in after he accidentally reveals a plot twist at a press conference. Gina, Alex and Michael try to get Joey to enjoy Christmas by decorating his apartment.

Joey and Michael are forced to take part in a taste test, after Gina and Alex compete in making lasagna. Joey faces trouble at work when he starts dating his co-star Katie, in spite of the warnings of the executive producer.

When Joey takes the gang to the premiere of the TV series Deep Powder, he sets Gina and Alex up with unusual dates, while Michael has a hot date but he's distracted when he sees his sci-fi movie idol, Brent Spiner.

Joey thinks he found the perfect assistant when he hires a man named Glenn, but his happiness is cut short when Glenn starts dating Gina. Alex tries to clear the air between Michael and his friend Seth who are arguing over a patent for an item they invented.

When Joey is asked to guest star on the Tonight Show, he finds himself in trouble when he gets stuck in traffic, while Gina meets two guys along the way.

Joey gets in over his head when he asks a reporter out on a date in hopes of writing a good review about him, only to find out that it's Valentine's Day and so she thinks he wants to have a serious relationship.

Joey is faced with a challenge when he's asked to present an award and he's having difficulty announcing the name of the nominee, while Gina is uncomfortable attending the event, as she has to wear a fancy gown.

When Joey's younger sister, Mary Teresa, comes for a visit, she clashes with Gina who doesn't get along with her. Mary Teresa wants to move in with Joey, after she finds out that her fiancé gave her a fake engagement ring.

When Joey starts going out with his new neighbor Sara, things get complicated when he forgets to cancel another date he has with someone else. Alex is having trouble connecting with Eric when he comes for a visit after being away for two months.

After Alex and Eric decide to have a trial separation, Alex spies on Eric when he starts seeing another woman. Glenn tries to bond with Michael after Gina tells him that she wants to break up with him because Michael doesn't like him.

After Joey and Sara decide to have a serious relationship, Joey finds himself in a tough spot when he has a love scene with Carmen Electra in his show. Alex wants to get back at Eric when she learns that he's in a relationship with someone else.

Gina is shocked when she finds out that Michael is dating a single mother. Alex is having a hard time adjusting after her divorce. Sara is offered a job in Washington, D.C.

Joey and Sara's relationship is put to the test when Joey asks her to move in with him. Alex is having trouble dealing with her first date after the divorce. Bobbie gets in trouble with Gina when she comes to a Star Wars preview after giving Michael tickets to the screening.
