A week in the life of the simple assistant director Colin Clark who accompanies Marilyn Monroe while filming The Prince and Show Girl in 1957, a week of passion, tension, fame, and interrelated relationships.

Depicting the making of the 1957 film The Prince and the Showgirl, which starred Marilyn Monroe (Williams) and Laurence Olivier (Branagh), the film focuses on the week in which Monroe spent time being escorted around London by Clark (Redmayne), after her husband, Arthur Miller (Dougray Scott), had left the country, and the tense relationship between Olivier and Monroe at the time.
