Najwa is forced to call her father and tell him that her husband, Sameh, suffers from major psychological disorders. Laila succeeds with high grades and Wafiq mediates to appoint her in the newspaper. Magdy travels to complete his studies abroad.

Magdy gets acquainted with an Egyptian man abroad called Farouk. Magdy writes to his girlfriend Laila and tells her in his letters that he misses her very much. Shawky incites Fahmy against his colleague Laila in the newspaper.

Magdy marries a girl named Verna. Shawky tells Laila of Magdy's marriage abroad, whereupon Laila breaks down and cries for her lover. Shawky gets a new office in the newspaper and proposes to Laila.

Magdy returns from abroad. Najwa tells her friend Laila that she is resuming her studies. Magdy tells Najwa that he has obtained his doctorate. Magdy's father quarrels with his wife over his grandson.

Magdy meets his beloved Laila for the first time since his return from abroad and tells her that he missed her. Verna takes her son Ramy and returns to Italy. Najwa's father dies and she turns to Magdy to stand by her side after her father's death.

Najwa graduates from the Faculty of Mass Communication, after which she marries Magdy. Laila is sad to learn of her lover's marriage to her friend. Magdy travels to his son Ramy to check on him.

Verna tells Farouk not to get too attached to her son Ramy because she will get married and travel to another country. When Shawky learns that Najwa has inherited a large sum of money from her father, he tries to drive a wedge between her and her husband.

Magdy tells his father that he is going to travel abroad again. Wafiq confesses his love for Laila, then he falls into a deep depression at home and Laila visits him.

Laila, Shawky, and Najwa travel to Magdy abroad. Laila tells Magdy that she has come, commissioned by the newspaper, to cover a big conference and write some articles. Najwa gets angry at her husband's treatment of her friend Laila and quarrels with him.

Laila tries to reconcile Magdy and Najwa. As Shawky incites Najwa against her husband Magdy, she asks for a divorce from the latter. Laila returns to Egypt.

Walid runs away from the house and Najwa calls her friend Laila to look for him. Walid goes to Magdy's father's house. Shawky fawns over Najwa in order to obtain a general power of attorney from her to be in control of her property.

Walid runs away again from his mother's house and goes to the house of Magdy and his father. Magdy tells Laila that he still loves her and wants to marry her, but Laila refuses and tells him she loves Bassam.

Shawky makes Najwa choose between him and her son Walid. The police arrest Shawky. Bassam advises Laila to return to her lover Magdy.
