As Chris starts high school, he runs into trouble when he's placed in an all-white homeroom where he has to deal with an annoying teacher. As Tonya works with Rochelle at the local beauty parlor, she ends up upsetting customers with her unfiltered honesty.

Chris tutors an androgynous classmate named Angel, so he can impress another student. Mr. Omar asks Drew and Tonya to look after his goldfish while he's away. Tasha's ex-con mother, Peaches, asks for Rochelle's help to get her life back on track.

As Chris becomes excited about going to the homecoming dance with Jenise Huckstable, his happiness is cut short when her father asks to see him before the dance. Drew tries to convince Doc to redecorate the store after working there in place of Chris.

As Chris is tasked with writing a report about a book, he decides to watch a movie based on the book instead, only it's the wrong film. As Julius and Rochelle decide to raise Mr. Omar's rent, their plan backfires when he demands that they bring the apartment up to code.

In an attempt to fit in with the cool kids, Chris decides to help the star football player with his studies, but his plan backfires. Julius has a new perspective on life after he works with Mr. Omar at the funeral home.

As Doc's new girlfriend, Stacy, gives Chris a hard time at the store, he sets out to break them up to get rid of her. Rochelle is not happy when she finds that Tonya hid her bra in Julius' sock drawer.

As Chris witnesses a shooting, he finds himself in trouble when he decides to tell the police about the shooter. As Julius and Rochelle go to see a Broadway musical to celebrate their anniversary, the night takes an unexpected turn.

Chris agrees to date the nerdiest girl in the school to cheer her up, but he wants to keep it a secret. Rochelle and Julius make a bet about who will win at a big football game where the Giants are playing against the Jets.

As Julius starts watching The Oprah Winfrey Show, his different attitude makes Rochelle suspects that he's having an affair. As Chris volunteers for a Big Brother program, he gets a surprise when he finds out the identity of his "little brother".

Chris is having trouble finding an adult to accompany him to Times Square to spend New Year's Eve there. As Julius stops a man from jumping off the George Washington, he becomes a local hero.

Rochelle decides to take a youthful approach after finding out that she's a year younger than she thought. As Chris befriends a man named Stan Levine, he tries to help him meet new friends. Greg tries to have his own identity apart from being seen as Chris's friend.

In an attempt to get girls to like him, Chris decides to join the wrestling team with Greg to get varsity jackets. As Rochelle goes on a diet, Julius decides to get the whole family on board because it will save him money. Drew is forced to ask Tonya to join his all-girls band.

As Chris and Greg look forward to going to the age-restricted Fat Boys concert, they set out to get fake IDs in order to get it. Rochelle attempts to give a surprise birthday party for Julius. Drew is having trouble with a pair of X-ray glasses that he ordered.

As Chris studies for a college-entrance exam, he finds that Rochelle has her own plans, as she wants to brag about him to a family at a social event. Julius finds that there's a catch after he wins a new TV in a contest.

Coach Thurman suggests that Chris takes up boxing in order to learn how to defend himself from bullies. An attractive neighbor takes a liking to Julius who suspects that Rochelle is having an affair.

Chris is forced to hide a stash of marijuana for a criminal on the run, as he freaks out, he ends up baking it in his lasagna for his cooking class. Rochelle is having a hard time learning the new computer system at the beauty salon.

After Chris accidentally hits Greg while he was taking a car for a test drive, he ends up getting Greg's leg broken. Chris attempts to keep his parents from finding out what he did. Julius takes Drew and Tonya to the beach.

As Chris buys his first car, he gets more than he bargained for when the car gets stolen. Rochelle finds out a secret that Julius was keeping from her.

Chris clashes with his mother after he refuses to do his household chores, as she ends up complaining to Julius about him. As Mr. Omar thinks that he's dying, he starts acting in a bizarre way.

As Chris is ecstatic after Tasha agrees to be his girlfriend, he soon realizes that being single has its merits. Rochelle is shocked when she finds out that Julius is not legally divorced from his first wife. Drew and Tonya compete with each other to see who's the best at being quiet the longest.

In order to avoid doing a punishwork assignment, Chris ends up calling in a bomb threat, which leads to causing chaos at school. After an angry customer puts a voodoo hex on Rochelle, she tries to find a way to get rid of it.

As Chris is warned that he could be repeating the tenth grade if he's late again, he sets out to take the G.E.D. test. As Drew performs at the Apollo, he realizes that he might not be that talented. The family gathers for dinner, as Julius brings the G.E.D. results.
