The events begin with a permanent dispute between Badran and Abu Al Fadl's family over the mayorship, and Awad, Abu Al Fadl's son, refuses to marry Ghalia, the daughter of Hajjaj, his servant, so Hajjaj goes to talk with Abu Al Fadl, who expels him from the town and kills Hajjaj and his daughter Ghalia.
Hajjaj's wife, Halima, denies before the prosecution that she knows who killed her husband and daughter and asks her sons Osama and Shams to avenge their father. She leaves the country with her three children and goes to Abdul Hamid and his wife Fawzia, and Abdul Hamid dies.
Abdul Qader Al Darawi, the leader of the fugitives, offers his condolences to Fawzia and Halima, and Shams asks him to take him to the mountain. So, he adopts him and trains him until he becomes a strong young man.
Shams and the fugitives attack an aid on its way to a flooded country, seize it, and kill the officer and the soldier accompanying it, but Shams refuses the matter.
One of the council members agrees with Nageh to make Al Darawi steal the aid and kill the officer. Abu Al Fadl kicks Nadi from his house because of his marriage to Aziza. Shams donates the aid he stole to the police under the name of Saleh, the camel merchant. Shams buys his land and old house from Abu Al Fadl.
Sameh takes over the position of the head of investigations, Tola takes over the mayorship, and Badran dies. Sameh goes to Nageh and asks him for the names of the arms dealers in the country, and Shams spreads the rumor that he will return to take revenge on Al Khttarah for killing his father and sister.
As Abu El Fadl quarrels with Nadi because he is kicked out of his land, Nadi mistreats Aziza and beats her. Sameh reopens all of Al Darawi's previous cases and arrests all of the suspects.
As Nazih gets married to Fahima in the new house in Al Khttarah, Sameh attacks the fugitives and kills many of them, but Shams manages to smuggle Hamada and Bilal out.
Shams steals Nageh’s animals, slaughters them, and distributes them to the people of the town. He also burns Abu Al Fadl’s ships and spreads the word in the town that Shams Al Ansari is the one who did that.
Shams attacks Nadi’s house to kill him, but he does not find him and he asks Aziza to tell him to give his employees his rights so that Shams would not come back to visit him. Shams gains the love of the people of the town because he restores justice and returns the rights to their owners.
As Shams sets fire to Abu Al Fadl's house, Al Qawsi shoots Sameh but hits the guard, so Sameh collects weapons from the village, and Osama still feels sad because of his helplessness and inability to avenge his father and sister.
Al Darawi moves to receive a new arms deal but is shot and Al Qawsi is arrested. Sameh tortures him to obtain information about Al Darawi.
Shams becomes a popular hero, and anxiety prevails in Abu Al Fadl's house, so they go to Nageh to get rid of Shams, and Shams smuggles out Al Qawsi.
The fugitives celebrate Al Qawsi's return, and Shams shares with Nageh a farm he had in the name of Saleh, and Shams plants Bilal to work for Nageh. Al Darawi informs the fugitives of giving the farm and gold to Shams, which angers Al Qawsi.
Osama dies, so Shams burns and destroys houses in Al Khttarah, and Al Qawsi hands Al Darawi over to Sameh, who kills him. Shams collapses when he hears the news.
Al Qawsi confesses to Shams that he has handed Al Darawi over to Sameh, so Shams orders that he be tied to the mountain so that the vultures could eat him. Shams attacks Abu Al Fadl’s house and injures Awad.
Shams steals Al Darawi's body from the morgue and buries it in the village. He also blows up police cars and steals their weapons in front of the police station. Shams develops feelings for Aziza and visits her. Nadi learns about the matter.
Shams meets Aziza and uncovers his face, so she discovers that he is Saleh. Nadi sees the matter and threatens to expose him, so she kills him and burns the house. However, she confesses, so she is arrested.
Fahima visits Aziza and tells her why she killed Nadi, and Matthias tells Shams about the date of Aziza’s transfer to the prosecution, so Shams smuggles her to the village.
Shams is still searching for the killer of his father and sister. Shams beats up Badran, Nageh's man, for collecting taxes from the people of the town. Shams steals the shipment of rotten meat that Nageh imported.
Sameh is interrogated after Aziza escapes, Salma continues to spread Shams Al Ansari's stories, and Shams threatens Atiya that he will continue to track Mudather's family until he finds his father's killer.
Saleh becomes a friend of Chief Sabry to follow up on Sameh's news, and Shams kidnaps Salma because she wants to talk to him and help him find out who killed his father, and he brings her back again.
Sameh arrests Salma for publishing information about Shams, but she is released. Salma's relationship with Saleh becomes stronger, and Hamada asks Shawqia to marry him.
Nageh gets a seat in the People's Assembly, Shams seizes the drugs that Nageh has tried to smuggle, and Sameh finds an old ID belonging to Hajjaj.
Abu Talib tells Nageh that the drugs are not stolen, and confirms to him that Saleh is deceiving him and asking him for the value of the drugs and their profits. Shams is shot but survives, and Hamada marries Shawqia.
Sameh has a criminal investigation artist draw a picture of Shams close to his father’s picture and distribute it. Nageh also obtains a law to increase taxes on camel traders, and Shams asks Matthias to erase Aziza’s name from government records.
Shams shoots Sameh in the leg, and Shams decides to marry Aziza.
Sameh survives the bullet, and Nazih's wife gives birth to a boy whom he names Shams. Shams marries Aziza and makes her leave the village.
Shams makes the detectives believe that Aziza has been killed, the police seize another body, and Nadi’s case has been closed. Bilal hears that Badran is the one who has killed Hajjaj and Ghalia from his conversation with his wife, so he informs Shams. Bilal and Hamada kidnap Badran and his wife.
Badran confesses that Nageh is the one who made him kill Hajjaj and Ghalia, so Halima kills him. Nageh confesses to Shams that he has killed Hajjaj, so Abu Al Fadl is accused of the murder, and the mayoralty is transferred to him. Shams hangs him in his home and disappears with Aziza, and Sameh is transferred to the far reaches of Upper Egypt.
