Based on the famous novel, a teenager goes to stay with his uncle, Professor Trevor, while his mother prepares the paperwork for them to go to Canada. She gives Trevor a box that belonged to his brother, Max, who has gone missing. Trevor decides to follow in his brother's footsteps with his nephew to Iceland to look for Max, and they get trapped in a cave during a snowstorm.
