Dr. John Dolittle is leading a seemingly perfect life. One day as he is driving, he swerves his car to avoid hitting a dog and discovers his dormant gift for talking to and understanding animals.
The adventures of Dr. Dolittle resume as he tries to save a natural habitat inhabited by a female bear, Ava. He gets a circus bear to help out and teaches him how to approach Ava.
As Maya Doolittle is gifted with the ability to talk to animals, she gets sent by her mother to a ranch, where she tries to find herself, but in order to do so, she has to put up with so much hard work first.
Maya Dolittle has a special ability to talk to and understand animals, just like her father. The President of the United States then assigns Maya to a special mission to the jungle, to look for a way to protect its wildlife, where she faces plenty of tough situations with the jungles moody animals.
Dr. Dolittle's daughter, Maya, thinks she can help animals without being a veterinarian because she can communicate with them, but she finds out things are not as they seem when she relocates to Los Angeles with the help of Tiffany, a Hollywood star.
