While driving in the desert of New Mexico, university student Jim Halsey and his girlfriend Grace Andrews, give a ride to a strange man. John appears to be a psychopath, trying to threaten them with a knife, but Jim throws him out of the car. Later they find John with another family. The couple try to catch up with them and save them, but an incident occurs and they find the whole family killed.
