As Julia and Tom begin creating a musical about Marilyn Monroe's life, Ivy is desperate to win the role, and Karen, the waitress, despairs making her theater dreams a reality.

As Ivy and Karen try to please director Derek to win the role, Julia is frustrated by a family issue with her husband Frank, and Eileen's divorce complicates the financing of the play.

The cast discovers that Michael, who plays Joe DiMaggio in the play, has a dangerous secret. Eileen suspects that her ex-husband is sabotaging the play by driving away investors.

As Eileen takes advantage of Derek's party to try out a new way to finance the play, Karen learns ways to increase her chances of landing the role, and Tom goes on a date for the first time.

As Leo's arrest causes Julia's family life to begin to collapse, Eileen and Tom's assistant Ellis become involved, and Ivy's relationship with Derek deteriorates as scenes begin to be rehearsed.

As Ivy has trouble with her voice and uses medication to heal and keep her chance in the play, Julia tries to avoid talking to Michael, and Eileen and Ellis' relationship develops.

The team prepares to present to investors, but Ivy's mother's return throws a wrench in her plans, and Karen is torn between the workshop and realizing her dreams. On the other hand, Julia is forced to deal with Michael.

The team deals with the fallout from the workshop, Derek and Eileen try to steal the business idea from Tom and Julia and turn on them with Karen's help, and Eileen is forced to deal with her ex-husband after her daughter's surprise visit.

As Julia and Tom come up with a new title for the musical, Karen and Ivy audition for a commercial, and Frank discovers Julia's dark secret.

As Rebecca is cast as Marilyn and Derek chooses Karen to play the role while Rebecca is away from rehearsals, Tom and Julia celebrate their wedding anniversary and Julia has a problem with Frank.

Rebecca turns out to be up to no good and her arrival throws the play's production budget into disarray, so Karen and Ivy work together to save the show. On the other hand, Julia and Frank have to deal with a family crisis.

Rebecca and Karen form a friendship according to the media, Eileen's ex-husband meets her new boyfriend, and Julia is shocked when her son disappears.

As Derek and Rebecca begin a love affair, Karen decides whether to stay with her boyfriend or participate in the play, and Eileen and Julia disagree about whether Michael should return to play his role.

As the cast of the play prepares for the premiere, Dev tries to fix things with Karen, and the production faces a problem due to Rebecca's illness and hospitalization.

The official performances of the play begin and many problems follow, as Derek makes a big decision regarding Ivy and Karen, and Tom and Julia race against time to save the work from the changes.
