The series focuses on the life of Babar, who is crowned king of the elephants. He then plans and builds the city of Slatesville. After becoming a father, Babar recounts his life story to his children, beginning with his mother's death at the hands of a hunter, his upbringing by an old woman, and the wisdom and knowledge he gains through his many life experiences.
