Amer arrives in town where everyone welcomes him, but as Nour receives him, she discovers that he hasn’t finished his medical studies, that his parents don’t know the matter yet, and that he studied music.

Omar overhears his brother Amer’s conversation with Nour, where they confess that they’ve loved each other even before her engagement to Omar, and when he confronts them, Nour pleads with him not to expose their secret, and to forgive her, whereupon Omar becomes traumatized.

Omar and Nour's engagement party is held, before which Omar, trying to call it off, asks her father to sign over his property to her, but as he refuses, the mayor asks his son Amer to replace his brother Omar and get engaged to Nour, and supports him as he runs for election.

Hoda, Nour's cousin, comes to town and stays with her, which upsets Dananeer. Omar returns home after a serious illness and tries to accept his brother Amer's relationship with Nour, the girl he loves.

As Shalabi tries to kill Omar after Amer won the election, he misses and injures Amer instead. Dananeer tries to drive a wedge between Hoda and her cousin Nour.

Dananeer warns Omar of an affair between Amer and Hoda, whom she claims is the one who made him quit his medical studies and take up music. Amer asks his father to speed up his and Nour’s wedding. Hoda tells Omar of what Gaber did to her father, causing his bankruptcy to avenge his sister Dananeer.

Shalabi kidnaps Nour and asks Omar to tell Amer, who rushes to her rescue and agrees with Shalabi to let her go, after which he asks his father to finalize his marriage to Nour.

Amer and Nour get married and travel to Cairo, whereupon Amer starts treating her differently, leaving her at home for long periods. The watchman tells Omar about the burning of the bean crop.

Nour complains about Amer spending his time with Hoda and the music, while Amer goes back to town where he asks Omar to report the burning of the bean crop to the police. Nour becomes pregnant, upon which her condition worsens.

Nour gives birth to her first child. Shalabi tells Omar that he will keep running away from the police. As Nour suffers from a nervous breakdown, she starts thinking that someone will take away her baby.

Finale

Nour dies, whereupon Dananeer asks Gaber to let her raise Nour's son. As the mayor passes away, Hoda reports Amer’s suicide, but the police do not find the body.
