The events revolve around Widad, the Syrian Jewish woman who witnesses the early efforts of Zionist organizations to establish the State of Israel, and her absolute rejection of the practices of those organizations and those who represent them, mainly her husband Fuad.

The series revolves around two historical time periods in Syria, the first in 1947 amidst radical transformations in Palestine, and the second at the start of the 20th century when the fate of many of the characters is deeply intertwined with political events and developments.
