With his misfortune of juggling numerous jobs to no avail, John persuades his friend Russell to join the army in order to improve their fitness. When they arrive at the training camp, John disagrees with their sergeant, and becomes, unofficially, the leader of his faction of fools. Somehow, they succeed in completing the training period and are assigned a special task.
