The story deals with the political events in Egypt, starting with the reign of King Fouad, the conflicts in World War I, the people's resistance movement against the British colonialists, the planning of an assassination attempt on the British High Commissioner George Lloyd, and then the announcement of the death of leader Saad Zaghloul in 1927.
