Judith leaves her husband and two boys in Sydney to report on the Vietnamese boat people in Malaysia. She falls for Kanan and befriends Lady Minou Hobday, who keeps a night watch at Turtle Beach, where immigrants attempt to land secretly, in hopes that one day her own kids will come. Judith sees a Malaysian slaughter with Minou one night, which inspires her to expose the Bidong detention camps.
