After a period of silence, Hamza finally receives a letter from Ashraqat and learns that she is in Istanbul. As Hamza offers to show Aiyed's daughter, Mamdouha, around the monuments, they end up getting close over time.
When Al-Khazindar's office is robbed, the Khedive senses that the robbery is a message for him. The Khedive asks to meet Salama Al-Halawany after he returns from his trip. Abdu wonders about the reason he is unable to have kids. It's revealed that Salama has a second wife.
As Widad and Niazy decide to investigate Salama's frequent trips, Salama finds himself in a bind when they show up unannounced. When Widad asks for a divorce, Salama reveals that he took another wife to have kids. The Khedive tries to convince the Sublime Porte of the necessity of borrowing money.
One of Al-Khazindar's men investigates Layl Abdel Dayem, who was involved in the attempt on Ashraqat's life. Layl Abdel Dayem is arrested. Salama Al-Halawany is ordained as a Bey.
Layl confesses that Ismail Al-Muffatish is the mastermind of Ashraqat's attempted murder. Father Bakhoum thinks about establishing a private Egyptian hospital. Niazy tries to take advantage of Widad's fury with Salama for his own gain.
Ismail Al-Muffatish decides to stand up to Al-Khazindar after the latter reveals the details of Ashraqat's attempted murder. Ismail tells the Khedive that Al-Khazindar is in a relationship with Princess Fatma. As the Khedive investigates these claims, Al-Khazindar updates him on Ashraqat's case.
One of the rogue princes decides to ally with De Lesseps. When Father Bakhoum asks to meet Salama, he informs him that Niazy wants to sell his property and partner up with him. The Khedive tells Ismail Al-Muffatish that he dismissed Al-Khazindar.
With Ahmed Al-Khazindar and Ismail Al-Muffatish now in open conflict, the latter brings the police chief to search Al-Khazindar's house and arrest him. Much controversy is raised about Al-Khazindar's arrest and imprisonment.
Ismail Al-Muffatish tells Al-Khazindar to release Layl Abdel Dayem in exchange for his own freedom. Ashraqat decides to return to Egypt. Al-Khazindar's followers decide to break him out of prison.
Ashraqat meets up with Ismail Al-Muffatish to come up with a resolution to the issue with Al-Khazindar. Al-Khazindar asks to meet the Khedive to explain the misunderstanding that occurred.
As Al-Khazindar's men break him out of prison after they publicize his execution, he hides in a remote place. Coincidentally, Sherif Al-Kashef turns out to be his neighbor. After a long absence, Hamza Al-Halawany visits with Ashraqat.
Ismail Al-Muffatish grows furious with Hamza and decides to transfer him out of Cairo to keep him away from Ashraqat. As Almaz falls terribly ill, it's revealed that she has appendicitis. Abdu finally manages to meet Ashraqat.
Sherif Al-Kashef decides to visit his ex-wife. He also tries to visit Almaz in the hospital. Everyone tries to support Almaz as she remains in the hospital.
Al-Khazindar's wife learns that her husband is alive. Hamza is transferred to Abyssinia. Almaz dies during an appendectomy.
Everyone mourns Almaz. Ashraqat reveals the truth about Ismail Al-Muffatish to the Khedive and asks for Hamza's transfer to be rescinded. The Khedive considers putting Ismail Al-Muffatish on trial.
Ismail Al-Muffatish tries to locate Layl Abdel Dayem. The Valide Pasha falls ill and suffers from severe exhaustion. Al-Khazindar meets his wife Safiya.
Ashraqat is rushed to the hospital after getting injured during an assassination attempt. Hamza visits Ashraqat at the hospital. The Valide Pasha's health deteriorates. The problem of Egypt's debts enters a critical stage.
The police question Abdu Al-Hamuli after Sherif Al-Kashef accuses him of killing Almaz. The loneliness and concealment take a toll on Al-Khazindar. Sherif asks to wed Widad.
Al-Khazindar's friend thinks of a substitute plan to help him. Tension rises between the Khedive and Ismail Al-Muffatish after the former questions Ismail about his whereabouts on the night Ashraqat was attacked.

As Hamza meets Al-Khazindar after his release from the hospital, he tries to help him figure out a way to leave safely. Widad kicks Sherif Al-Kashef out of her mansion.
The Khedive recruits Ali Pasha Mubarak to figure out a solution to the debt problems. The Palace of Sultan Abdulaziz is besieged. Salama divorces Widad after he gets fed up with her actions. Ismail Al-Muffatish learns that Al-Khazindar is still alive.
Hamza confesses to Ashraqat that he took part in breaking Ahmed Al-Khazindar out. Ismail Al-Muffatish detains Aiyed after the latter reveals what he learned about Al-Khazindar. The news about Al-Khazindar throws Ismail Al-Muffatish's plans into chaos.
As Al-Khazindar gets the necessary documents to leave Egypt, he senses that he must wait for a while yet. Aiyed objects to his detainment by Ismail Al-Muffatish.
The Khedive enlists the help of Sherif Al-Kashef to translate some German letters from the ambassador. Hamza gets a promotion. The European countries put pressure on Egypt to pay off the debts.
When Ismail Al-Muffatish crosses the line with the Khedive's children, their violent reaction gives him pause and causes him to isolate himself. As he makes the decision to resign, he turns on the Khedive and writes a rude resignation letter.
The Khedive calls Ismail Al-Muffatish in to find a solution for the debt problem. The Khedive discovers that Ismail has applied for the French citizenship to shirk his responsibility.
When the Khedive discovers that the budget deficit has reached 40 million Francs, he puts Ismail Al-Muffatish on trial. Ismail Al-Muffatish is exiled to Dongola, where he dies.
