As his 16th birthday approaches, an African former child soldier called Jumah who now lives in London, is ready to leave his troubled past behind and look forward to the future, but when a violent act happens he finds himself pulled back to the past he wanted to forget.

A former child soldier named Jumah is brought to London, where he lives with an aid worker named Laura. He wants to make a break with his violent past, but when he witnesses a stabbing and is pressured to keep quiet about what he witnessed, it becomes clear that violence is wedging its way back into Jumah’s life.
