“Boxer” painter Ushio Shinohara, an octogenarian whose offbeat aesthetic brought him notoriety in New York’s 1970s art scene, is putting everything he’s got into his upcoming show, hoping to revive his career. Meanwhile, his wife of forty years, Noriko, is busy crafting her “Cutie” illustrations that depict their unconventional love story through their alter egos, Cutie and Bullie.
