Serge is a retired actor who lives a quiet life, until fellow actor Gauthier offers him a part in a Molière's play. Serge suggests that they rehearse for a week before he decides whether or not he returns back to the spotlight.

With the history of a great actor, Serge Tanneur is now leading a misanthrope, withdrawn from society kind of life. His friend, Gauthier Valence, is a producer who made a high career. Gauthier is planning a production for Moliere's play “The Misanthrope,” he offers Tanneur the title role. First he thinks he's going to accept, but with the visit of Gautier and also of a romantic spark brought by an Italian divorcée. He comes to meet the difficult decision, does he really want to take to the stage again?
