Together, Lena and Steve, two lesbian women, are raising three kids: Jesus and Mariana, adoptive twins, and Brandon, Steve's son from a previous marriage. Steve and Lena decide to adopt Jude, Callie's younger brother. Lena's arrival to her drug-addicted mother and Steve's interactions with her ex-husband at work cause issues and complicate their lives.
