Harper, a private investigator from a large metropolis, travels to Louisiana to assist an old acquaintance who fears her husband will discover she has been having an illicit relationship.

In order to assist an old friend who is afraid that her husband will find out that she is having an affair, Harper travels to Louisiana. He also finds himself in the middle of an argument for power between the family's matriarch and a rapacious oil billionaire who wants what she has.
