Eddie chooses to change his life after serving time in jail and marries Kay. They have a small daughter named Shirley, who was born years later. Eddie gets Larry an opportunity to work as a chauffeur after he gets out of jail. However, theft happens at their workplace and they get accused of it. Welch, a private detective with a grudge against the two men, believes they are responsible and intends to prove it.
