The story begins in 1908 London, when women were gaining more independence. The series follows Harry Gordon Selfridge, founder of Selfridge's department stores. It depicts several important events in his life, including his personal and social life and his marriage to Rose. It also follows a generation during huge social and cultural changes, not only Harry Selfridge.
