Since they are poor, widow Dashwood and her three unmarried daughters, Elinor, Marianne, and Margaret, move from their big house to a small Devonshire home. Their wealthy neighbor, Sir John Middleton, helps the mother find acceptable marriages for her daughters. She succeeds in finding matches for Elinor and Marianne, but, of course, things are not that simple.
