Following the Oklahoma Land Rush of 1889, the Cravats, a family of settlers, establish a newspaper that soon starts to boom. But as the idealist Yancey 'Cimarron' Cravat gets an opportunity to become governor, he rejects it so as not to rob the natives of their land.
