Karmo learns about the relationship of his wife, Neama with Saad, so he divorces her and forces Saad to marry her until the end of her waiting period. Hashem Agha releases the girls out of prison. Ahmed Zakaria Pasha imposes a large tax on the people.

Hashem Agha punishes Seyah for conveying information to Selim Agha. As the men of the neighborhood revolt against the new tax, the men of the Sultan kill the messenger.

Neama suspects that Hadiya has incited her husband Karmo against her. Ali learns that Adnan has been instigated by Rabbi Badran to kill Yuzbashi Hamdi.

Reda breaks the wine bottles at his sister Rajiha's house, and Ezzo divorces his wife.

As sedition spreads in the Levant between Muslims, Christians, and Jews, the death toll increases at the instigation of Ahmed Zakaria Pasha. The Jews move to Jerusalem, and the instigators receive their punishment.
