Alice, who is 80 years old, is on her way to Columbia University to attend a reception in honor of Lewis Carroll, the author whom she knew as Rev. Charles Dodgson back then when they were young. Their companionship was the inspiration for his best-known book. However, as she thinks back on her interactions with him, she realizes that their complex relationship has had long-lasting effects.
