The life of a cruel and manipulative man is turned upside down when he meets an insurance salesman in a remote and small town, who pushes him into a dark world that portends a disastrous end.

Molly begins to suspect Lester's involvement in the murders, but her boss points her in another direction. On the other hand, Malvo investigates a plot targeting a man known as the Supermarket King.

Malvo turns the tables on a blackmail operation, Molly sets a trap to catch the killer, Gus suffers a crisis of conscience, and Lester returns to work, causing new complications.

Gus tries to right a wrong, but Malvo shows his dark side. Lester finds himself in a difficult situation, Molly discovers a promising lead, and events escalate to reveal new aspects of each of their lives.

As Molly is forced to make a difficult decision to protect Lester, Gus hesitates to make an important decision, and Malvo finally gets what he wants, before the stakes rise and new destinies are determined.

As Malvo carries out his master plan, Lester tries to come up with his own. Gus and Molly cooperate while in Duluth, and events escalate.

As Molly gradually recovers from her injury, Malvo seeks to settle his score with the people in Fargo, and Lester continues to be drawn deeper into his dark world as his plan develops.

Molly faces new pressure to close the case and forget about it, and Lester begins to feel an inner change that gives him a new sense of power and superiority over his opponents.

Chance leads Lester into an unexpected encounter, Malvo makes new plans, and new investigations lead Molly down a path she's familiar with.

As Molly finally takes control, Gus decides to follow his instincts, Lester manipulates things to his advantage, and Malvo finds a new purpose.
