When her husband beats her up, Sarah quarrels with her husband Zaid and asks for a divorce, while Abu Abdullah (Abdullah's father) tries to convince his son to return to him. As the ship that Mounira boarded sinks, the majority of the crew gets lost at sea.
Ten years later, Mounira returns to Kuwait with her son, Youssef. Since Khaled had prevented his wife Noura from seeing her sister Asma who performs charlatanism and sorcery, Noura fears that her act of defiance in receiving her sister will be discovered, incurring Khaled's wrath.
Mounira and Youssef arrive home. Khaled suggests that he and Mosa'ed buy a grand house together, and he tells Mosa'ed he must renew his marriage proposal to Sarah.
Mounira rejects Khaled's proposal to recruit Indian employees instead of the Kuwaiti employees to cut down the budget. Khaled attempts to persuade Sarah to marry Mosa'ed, despite their different social classes.
Abu Abdullah suggests that Youssef must start working as a translator, and that Sarah must move on from her divorce and remarry. Meanwhile, Nasser gets lost and all the family searches for him.
Abu Abdullah presses Youssef towards working as a translator. Youssef meets a foreign girl called Jolly. Lo'lo'a has a vision of Al-Tayeba. Khaled finds Nasser and takes him home. Mosa'ed tells Sarah he loves her.
Youssef falls for Jolly as the two get close. Noura complains to her husband Khaled about Mounira's mistreatment of her. Mosa'ed suggests that Sarah might get a job as a teacher or a librarian.
Things grow tense between Mounira and her daughter-in-law. Khaled considers setting up another kitchen in the house to palliate the tension between his mother and his wife, but he and his wife eventually leave the house. Mosa'ed is enraged when Ali proposes to Sarah.
Having no other place to stay in, Khaled stays with Mosa'ed and his wife goes to her family. Mosa'ed offers to buy Khaled a house and help Asma and Fares get jobs. Youssef complains to his uncle Abu Abdullah about his mother's control and cruelty.
Jolly tells Youssef she loves him. Mounira lies about Sarah's agreement to wed Ali. Mounira hires Abu Ghanem (Ghanem's father) to manage the stores in Khaled's stead. Khaled, meanwhile, rents an apartment for his wife's family.
Noura tries to convince Khaled to stay with her family in the new apartment. Sarah asks Mosa'ed to forget about her. Youssef tells Mounira he needs to rent an apartment close to his workplace because the daily commute takes him too long.
As Khaled gets shocked by numerous professional mistakes at work, he apologizes to his mother and asks for her permission to return home. Kamila tells Umm Sa'adoun (Sa'adoun's mother) that a prospective suitor is going to propose to her daughter.
Sarah learns that Faysal is married to another. Khaled and his wife return to his mother's house. Bibi starts to ingratiate herself with Mosa'ed. When a snake bites Jolly, Youssef takes her to the hospital.
Mounira lies to Ghalia and wrongfully introduces Nasser as Khaled, leaving Ghalia to get engaged to Nasser, the thing that enrages everyone. Mounira, however, tries to keep the news from Youssef so he won't ruin her schemes.
Nasser and Ghalia get married, and Ghalia is shocked to discover that her husband is Nasser, not Khaled. Youssef asks Jolly to marry him.
When Mosa'ed falls ill, he is rushed to the hospital. Ghalia tries to seduce Khaled.
Youssef tells his aunt Sarah that he loves Jolly and wants to wed her. Youssef's mother asks him to travel to India with her for business. Ghalia thinks of a plot to hold sway over Khaled.
Ghalia tries to get Sa'adoun's wife to kill Nasser so she would have a chance with Khaled. Mosa'ed needs Mounira's approval for him to wed Sarah. Noura asks Kamila to help her get pregnant.
Sarah gets ready for her marriage to Mosa'ed, and she advises Noura to have a makeover so her husband would fall in love with her all over again. Ghalia's attempt to kill Nasser prove futile.
Nasser tells Moza that Ghalia tried to strangle him. Sarah and Mosa'ed get married. Ghalia tries to get Mosa'ed to kill himself using a razor blade and he is rushed to the hospital.
Youssef disapproves of Jolly's relationship with her foreign friends. Ghalia and her mother try to figure another way to get rid of Nasser. Sa'adoun enlists Khaled's help to get Nasser to divorce Ghalia.
Khaled tells Sarah that Ghalia was tricked into marrying Nasser. Mounira and Youssef leave the country. Umm Mosa'ed (Mosa'ed's mother) continues to raise Sarah's hackles.
Mounira gets the smuggled gold and returns home with Youssef. Ghalia devises a new plot to get rid of Nasser, and her plot is successful as he indeed falls ill.
Nasser's health goes downhill as Ghalia puts him in contact with a diseased cat and denies him any medication.
Ghalia goes too far as to prevent Nasser from going to the hospital. Meanwhile, Jolly's parents voice their disapproval of her relationship with Youssef.
Asma tells Noura that Ossama is going to propose to her. Jolly breaks up with Youssef. Sarah learns she hasn't received all of Faysal's letters. While on a business trip, Mounira's grandson drowns.
The death of Khaled's son leaves the family grief-stricken. Jolly travels to London and her parents dismiss Youssef from work. Sarah stays at her sister's. Nasser's health deteriorates. When Faysal tries to sort things out with Sarah, she kicks him out in clear rejection of him.
Mosa'ed tries to take Sarah back as his wife. Nasser is rushed to the hospital in critical condition, and Lo'lo'a learns that Ghalia kept a diseased cat in Nasser's room. Mounira asks Khaled to pay Ghalia pff and get her divorced, but Ghalia insists on marrying Khaled; she doesn't need the money.
Upon their mother's wish, Mosa'ed asks Youssef to return home. Ghalia leaves the house, while Nasser dies in the hospital.
When Mosa'ed threatens to take another wife, Sarah returns home. Youssef convinces Jolly to return to Kuwait, which she does. They get married and have a baby, and so does Sarah who gives birth to a baby girl.
