The film follows a woman called Halima Mohamed Ahmed, known as “Om Amira” (Amira's Mother), who lives in a Cairo outskirt with her daughter, who suffers from heart disease, and her impeded, unemployed husband. She works all night long selling French fries in the street near Tahrir Square, which is her only financial resource.
