In 2002 Albuquerque, New Mexico, struggling public defender Jimmy McGill looks after his brother Chuck. He devises a detailed but shady plan to represent the Kettlemans.
As Jimmy's plan goes haywire, he talks Tuco out of killing him and the twin siblings Lars and Cal. Nacho makes Jimmy a tempting offer.
After Nacho is accused of kidnapping the Kettlemans, Jimmy sets out to prove his innocence. He follows a lead and he's able to locate the Kettlemans.
The Kettlemans turn down Jimmy's services. Jimmy releases Nacho from jail and devises a stunt to attract new clients, which surprisingly pays off.
Chuck is hospitalized following an altercation with the police. Jimmy refuses to have Chuck committed to a mental facility. Jimmy has to deal with his unusual elderly clients.
Mike's dark past catches up with him when he's brought in for questioning about a previous murder of corrupt cops which he was involved in.
Kim declines Jimmy's offer to have a partnership. The Kettlemans hire Jimmy after firing HHM. Mike and Jimmy force Craig to accept a plea bargain after they steal the embezzled money from the Kettlemans and hand it over to prosecutors.
While Jimmy is working for the Sandpiper elderly home, he uncovers embezzlement by the company. Chuck helps Jimmy to gather incriminating evidence against them.
Jimmy wins his lawsuit against the Sandpiper. Chuck wants Jimmy to hand the case to HHM. Chuck and Jimmy have a falling-out. Mike works as a bodyguard for Daniel Wormald.
Jimmy's con job with Marco ends tragically. Davis and Main want to hire Jimmy for the Sandpiper case because he knows how to handle the elderly.
