The leader expels his son Ragheb when the latter plots with his uncle Naguib for a revolt against the Ottoman Sultan, the Caliph of the Muslims. He asks his brother Zaid to take over the leadership once the current leader steps down. Nariman refuses to wed Ragheb because she's in love with Zaid.

The leader forces Zaid to marry Nariman, Abu Hassan's daughter, which troubles both Zaid and Ragheb; Zaid because he loves Rehab, and Ragheb because he loves Nariman.

When Nariman and Zaid get married, a resentful Ragheb flees the country and stays at Boutrous's.

Zaid quarrels with Walid for his mistreatment of people. After a while, when Zaid is kidnapped, Saleh tries to find him.

The leader summons Ragheb to look for Zaid and take over his tasks and responsibilities until Zaid is found.

Grieving his son Zaid's disappearance, Leader Abu Ragheb (Ragheb's father) passes away. Ragheb runs the family's business in light of his search for Zaid.

Ragheb becomes the leader following his father's death, and he suspects that Walid is behind Zaid's disappearance.

Naguib returns to the neighborhood and decides to open a school to teach young children, an idea that Abu Hassan strongly supports.

As Hend elopes following a disagreement with her family, a search party is formed to find her, but she gets married.

Umm Ragheb (Ragheb's mother) rejoices when she learns that Nariman is pregnant. Abu Helmy (Helmy's father) is mad at his son for marrying a Jewish woman.

Ragheb offers Helmy protection from his father. Abu Ya'coub (Ya'coub's father) reprimands his daughter Hend for getting married behind his back. Nariman gives birth to a baby boy.

When Essam is arrested, Kamil asks Naguib to watch out. Umm Ragheb wants Nariman and her son to stay at her house. Helmy wants Ragheb to find him a job.

As the men of the Ottoman Sultan search for Naguib following his anti-authority publications, Naguib hides away. Hend tries to adjust to her new situation.

The flame of love still burns bright inside Ragheb's heart, but Nariman patiently awaits the return of her husband Zaid. Ragheb learns that Walid is imprisoned.

Aman refuses to wed Saleh. When Walid tells Ragheb that he killed Zaid, a vengeful Ragheb stabs Walid with a dagger.

The people of the neighborhood are shocked to learn that Zaid was murdered. Abu Hassan asks Shahin to use his connections to get Ragheb out of prison, and Ragheb is indeed released. The prisoners kill Walid.

Ragheb learns that Walid has been murdered in jail. Umm Ragheb suggests that her brother can marry Aman.

Rehab accepts to wed Tawfik. Saleh and Asma get married. Naguib learns that Essam passed away.

Ragheb decides to wed Nariman. When the informant Awny testifies against Naguib, the latter is arrested but is soon to be acquitted.

Abu Hassan tells Nariman that Ragheb wants to wed her. Awny asks Ragheb to work with him. Hend's detachment from her family weighs heavily on her.

Naguib accepts to wed Aman. Nariman doesn't want to wed Ragheb because she finds it peculiar. When a burglar breaks into Shalabiya's house, Hanna saves her.

Ishak sells his father's store to Abu Hassan. Nariman eventually accepts to wed Ragheb when her father forces her to.

Ragheb is shocked when Faisal tells him that Zaid is alive.

As Ragheb finds Zaid, the latter denies that he is Zaid and claims to be a man called Youssef, leaving Ragheb to think that maybe Youssef is a look-alike of Zaid.

Believing that Zaid might've lost his memory, Ragheb recounts to Youssef events of Zaid's past prior to the latter's disappearance. When Ragheb offers Youssef to return to Beirut and work with him, he accepts. Ragheb tells the people of the neighborhood that Youssef is Zaid, but he has lost his memory.

Umm Ragheb refuses to believe that Youssef is not her son. Hanna refuses to tell the people of the neighborhood of the truth behind the recent events, as Sobhy spreads the news that Hanna killed someone.

Hanna tells Ragheb that he mistakenly killed his wife when he thought she is cheating on him, but she turned out to be innocent. Ragheb tries to help Hanna move on.

When Zaid is back, Rehab has a faint hope that they might get back together and she changes the way she treats her husband. But when it turns out that Zaid doesn't remember her, she tries to mend things with her husband once again.

Naguib and Aman get married. Ragheb cannot confirm whether Youssef is actually Zaid or not.

The family affirms that Youssef is Zaid when he tells them how Walid tortured him. Zaid asks his family to forget about him and move on, but Ragheb vows revenge on everyone who has wronged his dear brother.
