The people of Al-Dab'a neighborhood awake at night upon learning there's a thief in it; they resent the chief of police's failure to find the thief. Umm Zafer (Zafer's mother) is upset with her daughter-in-law, who dissuaded Zafer from looking for the thief. Jamila discovers her jewelry was stolen.

Nadia hides the fact that she's contracted tuberculosis from her co-wife, Umm Issam, while receiving treatment. Umm Zafer urges her son to find out what is going on in the neighborhood, while Umm Bashir urges her son to marry another woman to spite his wife, Jamila.

Things flare up as the men return after performing Umrah. Abu Issam (Issam's father) discovers Nadia's illness. Issam announces to his three wives that whoever gives birth to a boy will become the lady of the house. A thief eavesdrops on Tanaka and Al-Nems talking about an abandoned treasure.

Al-Wawy's brother discovers that his brother was killed by the men of the neighborhood, who tell him that he was a criminal and promise to help and pardon him. Umm Issam insists that Abu Issam's other wife, Nadia, stay at home, after he tells her that she is sick.

Nadia announces that she has renounced her French citizenship and refuses to travel for treatment despite the Commander's insistence. Mo'taz manages to catch the neighborhood thief but lets him go after making sure that he resorted to theft to get food out of hunger.

The people of the neighborhood are upset that Abu Issam is not present to discuss their problems, but Abu Zafer calms them down. As Nadia's condition worsens, Abu Issam fails to find a way to cure her disease other than waiting; however, she passes away.

The Commander is trying to cast aspersions on Abu Issam's reputation and integrity in front of Abu Zafer, while Umm Zafer is trying to get her son married to another woman in order to spite her daughter-in-law, Bahiya. Sarah gifts Mo'taz with a precious stone.

A quarrel erupts between the residents of the neighborhood and the police. Zaatar steals the weapon of Officer Salloum, but Abu Issam orders him to return it. Mo'taz teaches French officers a lesson after they assault a guy, after which he asks Sarah's father for her hand in marriage.

The Commander seizes Abu Mahmoud's house, which ignites the fires of anger among the people of the neighborhood. Abu Jawdat agrees with the Commander on driving a wedge between Abu Issam and Abu Zafer. Abu Issam demands that Mo'taz leave the guarantee of the agricultural lands.

As the people of the neighborhood confront the French's attempt to attack Abu Mahmoud's house, they assign Abu Issam to make sure the house is free of terrorists. The Commander spreads lies about his knowledge of the guy Abu Issam exploited and was released from prison in his place.

Abu Issam helps the rebels who are hiding in Abu Mahmoud's house, but Tanaka and Al-Nems report the matter to the Commander. Abu Zafer goes to the house of Al-Domani, whom he learned that he's the prisoner Abu Issam got out instead of and took advantage of his name.

Abu Zafer manages to take revenge on Abu Issam by learning the truth about his release from prison and forging the papers belonging to the prisoner Al-Domani, and he attempts to regain the chiefdom of the neighborhood from Abu Issam. Mo'taz declares to Abdo his love for the Jewish Sarah.

Abu Al-Nar's son returns from Lebanon and meets his father, who welcomes him, while Ferial is upset when she finds out that he has another wife. Mo'taz decides to marry the Jewish Sarah and consults the Sheikh of the neighborhood. A quarrel erupts between Umm Issam and Umm Bashir.

Umm Issam quarrels with Umm Bashir and her son over their beating of her daughter. Also, Bashir quarrels with Mo'taz, while Abu Hatem quarrels with Abu Zafer over his attempt to seize Abu Issam's chiefdom of the neighborhood. Abu Zafer asks Jawdat to arrest Mo'taz to prove his influence.

Abu Zafer is close to taking revenge on Abu Issam after sowing suspicion in the hearts of the children of Al-Domani toward Abu Issam, who quarrels with Mo'taz over his love for a Jewish woman, while Abu Jawdat asks Al-Nems to give him back his money or work for him.

Anger flares up in the neighborhood after discovering the truth about Nadia's relationship with the French, and she is accused of espionage in front of Abu Issam. Umm Zafer agrees with her husband to expose Abu Issam.

Abu Zafer accuses Abu Issam of marrying a spy and forging the prison papers, whereupon he asks the Sheikh of the neighborhood to choose a new chief, but Zafer refuses the matter. Mo'taz confronts Sarah with his decision to break up.

Abu Al-Nar quarrels with his wife over her refusal to summon their daughter from Issam’s house. An argument arises between Issam and Mo'taz. Mahmoud dies after the police try to interrogate him and find out where he was hiding.

As Abu Issam and his family are arrested on charges of treason, the people of the neighborhood try to mediate for him, but Abu Jawdat refuses until after the arrival of Abu Zafer, who refuses the Commander's request to become the neighborhood's chief after Abu Issam only if he cooperates with them.

Sarah's mother dies out of grief over her daughter's running away. Mo'taz's wife returns to her father's house and tells her brother about Mo'taz's wish to marry Sarah. Abu Al-Nar and Abu Hatem discover Abu Zafer's plot against Abu Issam, who decides to seek revenge.

The physician Musa discovers that Sarah is hiding in Abu Issam's house. As Samao is surprised by Hilal's return to the neighborhood, he starts watching him after telling Abu Jawdat about it. Al-Nems' attempts to make his new business work end in failure.

The youth of the neighborhood fight with the Jewish youth as they are demanding that Sarah be handed over to them. Meanwhile, Hilal asks Abu Issam for some money, but the latter refuses, so Hilal threatens him.

As Hilal burns the neighborhood, its residents think that the Jews are the ones who did that. Musa agrees to wed his Jewish daughter, Sarah, to Mo’taz. Khater insists on his sister’s divorce from Mo’taz, whose father asks him to go to Abu Al-Nar’s house to see his wife.

As Sarah is shocked upon learning about her mother’s death, she decides to return home. Bashir asks for the hand of the daughter of Abu Zafer, who refuses due to the social gap between them, which upsets Bashir and his father, who demands that Abu Zafer’s son leave his daughter as well.

Everyone succeeds in bringing Al-Dab’a neighborhood’s gate back. As Issam returns to his house, he finds his three wives have teamed up against him, so he quarrels with them. Nassim is still trying to get back at Mo’taz after what he did to his sister.

Mo'taz marries the Jewish Sarah. Hilal shoots Zaatar and kills him. As Abu Zafer begins to suspect Hilal, he asks his son, Zafer, to watch him, while Abu Hatem discovers the betrayal of his nephew and fires him from work.

Abu Qassim quarrels with Abu Issam over the latter's wish that his son Mo'taz marry. The residents discover Hilal is a spy who conveys the neighborhood's news to the Commander. Khater and Mo'taz argue as the former accuses him of kidnapping a Jewish girl, but Abu Issam settles their dispute.

Mo'taz's wife insists on his divorcing his Jewish wife so she'd return to him. Abu Issam's two wives give birth to girls, which saddens him. Qaoud asks Abu Selim that he marry his daughter. Abu Issam agrees to stand up to the French leaders with the people of the neighborhood.

Mo'taz and Zafer look for Mahmoud's comrade. An officer tells Abu Issam that he wants to cooperate with him against the Commander. Al-Nems forgives Abu Al-Nar and asks him to return to work, but he refuses. Musa goes to Abu Issam's house to see his daughter Sarah, and he forgives her.

Anger flares up in the neighborhood as the French enter it and the people confront them. The chiefdom problems are still not over and have not been decided in favor of Abu Zafer or Abu Issam. Musa asks Nassim to forgive his sister Sarah in order to confront the French with the people.
