The play follows Sheikh Rifa'a at-Tahtawi, one of Egypt's pioneers of enlightenment, over five decades, depicting his early years as a young sheikh from Al-Azhar and preacher with the missions sent by Muhammad Ali to study in France, his joining them as a student and translator, his role in establishing Al-Alsun Translation School, his positive attitude toward women, his sufferings, and his exile.
