The child Erich dreams of being one of the most skilled escape artists, but he faces many challenges on his way to becoming the great Harry Houdini, who challenges the police to escape from prison and whose skills are exploited as a spy for the benefit of the alliance between Britain and the United States.

Houdini enters into challenges with spiritualists to prove the falsity of their misleading practices and beliefs, and on the other hand, he works to maintain his status and his dazzling performances in the face of the tide of progress and new methods of entertainment.
