In Allied-occupied Germany after WWII, French Army Captain Henri Rochard and US Army Lieutenant Catherine Gates usually carry out missions together despite their constant bickering. Before long, they fall for each other and decide to get married but discover that the only way for Henri to be able to go back with Catherine to the US is under the War Brides Act, which leads to funny complications.
