Abu Majed (Majed's father) resents his daughter Fatima taking care of the house and her siblings, after her mother’s death, and neglecting herself. He rejects his son Ibrahim’s constant recklessness and lack of interest in his studies.
Abu Majed tries to convince Fatima to think about marriage, while Jaber informs Ibrahim of his desire to marry his sister Fatima. As Nawal is saddened by her inability to have children, problems arise between her and her husband, Fouad.
As things become difficult between Nawal and Fouad, he thinks about divorcing her. Nawal proposes to her brother Khaled to marry Fatima, and Jaber proposes to officially marry Fatima.
Fouad thinks about getting married again so he can have children. As Fatima and Jaber's wedding takes place, the latter's treatment of Abu Majed changes and he resents his work as a taxi driver.
Fatima grieves over her father's illness and her husband's changed treatment of her family, while her husband receives the news of her pregnancy with coldness. Fouad marries Mustafa's sister.
Majed tries to reconcile Fatima and her husband, Jaber, after which she loses her fetus. As Jaber threatens Ibrahim with the trust receipts, he divorces Fatima, and her father dies.
As Fatima resents society's view of her being divorced, Khaled's parents refuse to let him marry her, but after the divorce of their daughter Nawal, they regret their refusal and Fatima and Khaled get married.
