Refai El-Desouky, or The Legend as he is called, dominates his neighborhood after a new police officer is transferred to the neighborhood. His twin brother, Nasser, is hoping to become a prosecutor so he could propose to his wealthy sweetheart Tamara.
When Nasser fails to get the job, Refai angrily confronts his arms dealing partner who was supposed to help Nasser get the job, but Nedal informs him that it was his own reputation that prevented his brother from being a prosecutor. Nasser asks for Tamara's hand but her family refuses.
After he is arrested, Refai defends himself to officers Sarwat and Kamal Mourad. Nasser asks his uncle to find him a trustworthy man who is willing to sacrifice himself for Refai.
Refai gets in a fight with Essam Al-Nemr who got him arrested. Officer Kamal arrests Refai, his uncles Mokhtar and Zakaria, and Essama. Nasser asks his friend Morsy to help him leave the country.
Nasser learns that his mother got ill after she found out that he intends to go to Libya. Refai informs his uncle that he wants to reconcile with Essam, because his sister Samah wants to return to her husband Amin Al-Nemr.
Refai reconciles with his wife Hanan, as Samah reconciles with Amin. Nasser agrees to marry Shahd. Essam and Refai turn over a new leaf, but Badr and his associates try to incite conflict between them.
Nasser officially asks for Shahd's hand. An unknown assailant shoots at Refai who collapses after being shot.
Sarwat questions Essam about Refai's murder. Refai's mother Toha swears revenge on her son's killer. The cops storm Refai's weapons manufacturing workshop and arrest Nasser, Mokhtar and Zakaria.
Nasser, Mokhtar and Zakaria are sentenced to 15 years in prison. The family is furious when Samah tells them that she is going to return to her husband's house. Toha kicks Samah out.
Gamila discovers that Zakaria has been imprisoned and breaks down. She tells his first wife Aisha and his sister Toha that she is his wife. Toha invites her and her daughter to live with her.
Nasser tells his uncles that their appeal has been accepted. Dr. Salmawy meets Nasser and informs him that although Refai is the reason he was imprisoned, he blames the ones who ordered Refai to set him up.
When Essam asks to buy Refai's workshop, Toha vehemently refuses. She rents out the workshop to another man, only to discover that he is working for Essam. They get in a huge fight.
After Nasser, Mokhtar and Zakaria are released, Nasser goes to see Dr. Salmawy who offers him a million dollars to kill Azzam, the guy who sent him to prison. Nasser meets Essam Al-Nemr.
Nasser tells Kamal that he is willing to kill Essam in exchange for Kamal's protection. He offers to let Badr take over Refai's business if Badr kills Azzam, and tells him that he wants to kill Essam to avenge his brother.
Nasser kills Essam in front of his family. Amin allows his family to beat Samah and refuses to let Nasser take her, but Nasser manages to take her son. Nasser kills Azzam and beats Morsy.
Nasser marries Refai's wife Hanan. Aida reveals that Zakaria can't have children and questions his daughter's paternity. Mokhtar warns Nasser off his dark path.
After Kamal and Nasser disagree on the details of a deal, Nasser is summoned by Badr. They agree on how Nasser will intercept an antiquities shipment for Badr in exchange for Badr securing Nasser's arms shipment.
Nasser breaks his deal with Badr and Kamal when he takes more than what they agreed on from the antiquity shipment. Nasser proposes to Mariam.
Nasser sees Tamara for the first time since she refused to marry him. He fights with Morsy and warns Amin to leave his sister alone. He refuses to deliver the antiquity shipment until Kamal and Badr help him smuggle an arms shipment coming from Russia.
When Nasser offers to move his family to a more upscale neighborhood, they all refuse. Tamara discovers that her husband Tarek is still on drugs. Badr sends Nasser to kill a businessman.
After forcibly sleeping with Hanan, both Nasser and Hanan are left bereft and feeling guilty. Tamara and Tarek go to stay with Nasser and his family.
It's revealed that Tarek is cheating on Tamara. Shahd discovers that Nasser has married Mariam and reveals the truth to Mariam and her family. Nasser divorces Shahd.
Nasser reconsiders his actions after Mariam's parents ask to leave the house. Tamara discovers that Nasser is the one who got Lily to provide Tarek with drugs.
Hanan discovers that she is pregnant. Lily tells Tarek that Tamara and Nasser were in love but Tarek refuses to confront Nasser.
Hanan tries to terminate the pregnancy but changes her mind at the last minute. Shahd and Nasser reconcile. Nasser tries to tell Salmawy that he needs to flee the country, but Salmawy doesn't trust Nasser anymore.
When Nasser refuses to kill Salmawy, Badr has him killed and makes Nasser bury the body in the desert. Hanan asks Nasser for a divorce but he requires Toha's approval first. When he starts to suspect his secretary, Nasser tells her that he is keeping his money in Paris and she tells Badr.
Badr threatens Nasser to kill him and his mother if he doesn't give Badr half of what he has earned since they started working together. Nasser throws him out.
Nasser kills Amin. Kamal and Rana plot to get rid of Badr by revealing to Nasser that Badr is the one who killed Refai and that he intends to kill Nasser.
As Nasser puts in safeguards for his family, Tarek divorces Tamara and discovers that Lily has been working with Nasser. He sets Nasser up after killing Lily.
When both Shahd and Toha are killed, the grief-stricken Nasser asks his late father and brother for forgiveness. He turns himself in and is executed.
