Prince Omar is one of the most influential men in Lebanon during the era prior to World War II. He enjoys himself so much by going to clubs and having many affairs with women. His sister-in-law complains about his lifestyle, but his wife sees no problem with what he does.
Nadia, the wife of Prince Omar, complains that she has not had a child yet, and Sarah's friend reveals to her that everyone is gossiping about her relationship with Omar. Nadia bleeds heavily, and her health deteriorates.
Nadia dies after a struggle with illness, and the funeral is held in the palace, attended by acquaintances and friends. Nariman decides to attend the funeral despite all the sensitivities.
Nadia's sister spends her time with Reem, the daughter of Prince Omar, and reproaches him for his lack of interest in her. Sensitivities arise between Nariman and her lover, Faris, because of Prince Omar's recent visit.

Farah decides to ask Omar to get back to her, especially after she learned about her pregnancy, but she sees him with the prostitute and gets angry. Nariman asks to visit Omar to consult him about her problem.
Farah's father decides to get back to his wife. Zina undergoes surgery after she gets into a car accident, and her child is aborted.

The High Commissioner decides to declare Beirut an open city. Omar's palace is threatened with siege, and he learns from Faris that he is wanted for arrest.
The flames of war erupt in Beirut, during which Omar goes to Farah and Reem, after which he detains a group of French soldiers. Zina dies.
Farah's brother suffers a severe breakdown after Zina's death and stays with her in the room, refusing that anyone enters. Meanwhile, Farah collapses when she learns the news.
Authorities announce a cease-fire in Beirut. Nariman dies in a plotted car accident.
Faris gets Nariman's son after her death. After Omar and Farah mend fences, Farah gives birth to Omar's child.
