Cathy receives a duck egg as her birthday gift, after which the duckling chooses Cathy to be its best friend and Margaux to be its mother. However, Margaux suffers from a muscular disorder that makes her wheelchair-bound. Her parents also refuse to let the duckling stay in their house. To save the duckling's life, Cathy and Margaux start planning to protect it.
