The hotel night manager Jonathan Pine has to face a hazardous situation after learning that there is an arsenal of weapons about to be sold by a British business mogul.

Angela Burr gets Jonathan to work secretly for her, and he lies about his identity to get near to Richard Roper.

Jonathan gets closer to Roper and has to deal with a suspicious Corkoran. Burr's superiors are questioning her operation.

Jonathan exploits Corkoran's anxiety and will act as frontman for Roper. Burr's operation is going forward, yet forces are trying to halt it.

Jonathan resorts to manipulation to make Roper believe he is loyal. Burr's life and her operation are in danger.

Burr deals with limited resources and is overwhelmed by questions, while Jonathan is faced with the ultimate threat.
