Rafael 'Rafe' Khatchadorian has an epic imagination, a passion for sketching, and a slight problem with authority. He transfers mid-year to Hills Village Middle School after being kicked out of his previous one. On his first day, he meets Principal Dwight who forces students to comply with an extensive list of senseless rules. Rafe and his friend, Leo, come up with a plan to break his 86 rules.
