The movie appears exactly 27 years after the release of the original movie. It is mentioned in the novel that ”It” returns to the village after 27 years.
Cary Joji Fukanga was supposed to direct the movie, but he didn’t take the job because he thought the movie should be rated NC-17, and the studio insisted on it being R-rated. The Duffer Brothers were also reported to direct the movie.
Coincidentally, Bill Skarsgard, who plays Pennywise, is born in 1990, which is the same year in which the original movie appeared.
Hugo Weaving and Bill Skarsgard were both reported to play Pennywise. Eventually Skarsgard took the role.
In the original book the story is in 1958. However in the movie it is 1989.
