Four Amish and one Mennonite seek the opportunity of leaving their old lives and relocating to New York City to experience a fresh life, even if it means saying goodbye to their families and friends for good.

As the Amish youths encounter different situations for the first time in the lively New York City while adapting to city life, conflicts and love stories ensue.

By switching to the English clothing style and getting tattooed, the group defies the Amish and Mennonite norms. Kate and Rebecca consider modeling jobs. Abe and Rebecca are taken aback when their families pay them an unexpected visit.

While Rebecca is confronted with a traumatic event from her past, Sabrina tries to learn more about her ethnic roots. Kate's family causes her to crack up when they shun her.

The group is at odds as they discuss what's bad and good about the Amish lifestyle. Sabrina discovers she has little knowledge of Puerto Rican culture but is keen to learn more. Rebecca discovers that Kate has a DUI arrest record in Florida.

For her first photo session, Kate dresses in a bikini. Abe is looking forward to the next step in his relationship with Rebecca. Sabrina, Kate, Abe, and Rebecca pay a visit to the Museum of Sex.

Kate discovers she is no longer welcomed in the group. Sabrina learns her biological father's whereabouts. Rebecca shares an old memory that she doesn't want to talk about. While packing their bags, the group must make up their minds regarding a difficult dilemma.

The group is at a crossroads when they must decide whether to remain true to their Amish/Mennonite beliefs or switch to the English lifestyle, bearing in mind that they must deal with their family and friends, as well as the risk of being shunned.

Sabrina stumbles upon letters written by her late birth mother. Kate comes to terms with her life circumstances. Abe and Rebecca are preparing for their wedding, while Jeremiah and Sabrina organize bachelor and bachelorette parties for the couple.

A shocking secret causes the pre-wedding celebrations to take an unexpected turn. Abe and Rebecca are surprised by how tough it is to plan a wedding on their own. Jeremiah speaks frankly with Sabrina about their relationship.

NBC's Michelle Beadle conducts an interview with the cast to talk about their first time in NYC, as well as their relatives and friends, potential run-ins with the authorities, and their Amish/Mennonite lifestyle.
