After their return to their homeland following the war in Vietnam, two soldiers try to mingle in society and get back to their normal life, but they struggle to find a job, the thing that changes with 'Broker' making them a tempting offer.

As Joni and her co-worker drive to Cliff's house to pick him up, they find the police there. When Mac and Buddy go to a gunrunner for a deal, things go haywire and end in a bloody shootout.

An unexpected guest pays Joni a visit, while a shocking surprise awaits Mac at home, urging him to call The Broker.

Following a set of violent events, Mac and Joni take shelter in a motel, where each of them reveals shocking truths to one another.

A surprise awaits Mac with The Broker at his doorstep asking him for a drive.

While at a party in the country, The Broker points at a man and tells Mac that he wants him dead. Meanwhile, racial unrest ensues when a bus of black students is stopped, calling for a curfew.

Mac is enraged when Joni puts the house up for auction. Meanwhile, detective Tommy finds a new lead pertaining to Cliff's death and he believes Mac is somehow involved. The Broker entrusts Buddy and Quarry with a high-profile task.

Joni changes her mind regarding selling the house. Meanwhile, Mac meets the Broker to finish paying his debts, but his war demons haunt him in real life as he tries to put his fears to sleep, even if he has to kill someone.
