Marie, who has a progressive eye condition, is aware that she will have to spend her life in the dark. Her parents decide to board her at a blind institute in the middle of the school year because they are aware of the severity of her situation and are concerned for her future. She does, however, intend to apply to and compete for a spot at a renowned music school.
